Travis Kelce seems to be taking full advantage of his NFL team’s bye week by stepping into the world of acting once again. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, was spotted on a film set this week, seemingly working on a cameo for the highly anticipated sequel to Happy Gilmore. Hollywood producer Bryan Zuriff shared a glimpse of Kelce in costume via his Instagram Stories on Thursday, showing the football star flashing a wide grin, clearly enjoying his time in front of the camera.
Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl champion, has been involved in shooting Happy Gilmore 2 over the past few months. Back in August, Adam Sandler, the star of the original 1996 sports comedy classic, confirmed that Kelce would have a role in the upcoming sequel. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Sandler revealed that Kelce had secured a cameo, saying, “We have something nice for Travis. He’s going to come by.”
The film, which is set to release on Netflix, has been shooting at various locations in New Jersey. This explains why Kelce was seen flying to the East Coast earlier in the week with his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, after the Chiefs’ Monday night game.
While Swift, 34, was on the private jet with Kelce, she wasn’t featured in Zuriff’s Instagram post, sparking curiosity about her involvement—or lack thereof—in this latest project.

Sources reached out to Kelce’s representatives to confirm whether he was indeed back on the set of Happy Gilmore 2, but no official response has been provided yet. Kelce has been tight-lipped about his exact plans for the Chiefs’ bye week, which provides the team with a rare full week of rest during the NFL season.
On the latest episode of his podcast, New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, Travis hinted at having plans but stayed coy.
“You got any bye week plans?” Jason asked.
“Of course I do,” Travis replied, without offering further details. “But if any of it comes out [in the press], I’m sure we’ll talk about it on the show.”
Though he’s keeping this project under wraps for now, Kelce hasn’t been shy about expressing his passion for acting. In previous interviews, he’s stated that he hopes to pursue more roles in Hollywood as his football career winds down.
His enthusiasm for acting has already been on display this year when he made his official acting debut in Ryan Murphy’s FX series Grotesquerie. In that series, Kelce played Eddie Laclan, a nurse caring for the husband of Lois Tyron, portrayed by Niecy Nash-Betts.
Kelce has also demonstrated his range as a performer by hosting Saturday Night Live in 2023, where he showed off his comedic chops and ability to entertain a live audience. That successful hosting gig seemed to further fuel his desire to branch out into the entertainment industry.
While NFL fans know Kelce for his prowess on the football field, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the star tight end has his sights set on Hollywood, with his cameo in Happy Gilmore 2 marking just another step in his burgeoning acting career.
Fans will have to wait and see what other roles the future holds for Kelce, but one thing is certain: he’s not slowing down anytime soon, either in football or in film.
