Travis Kelce is no stranger to the spotlight, whether he’s traveling the world with his girlfriend Taylor Swift or thrilling fans on the football field.
While the Super Bowl champion enjoys showcasing his acting skills, he has made it clear that he is completely “over” the realm of reality TV.
During a recent appearance on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, the 34-year-old tight end was asked about his potential involvement in Netflix’s upcoming reality series “Receiver.” This series is a follow-up to the 2023 show “Quarterback,” which featured his teammate and Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes.
“After Pat did it, I did get asked about it. I don’t know. I’d rather just play ball, man. I’m already doing enough with the podcast and everything,” Kelce explained. “I’m way over the reality stuff. I’m out on that.”
Kelce’s aversion to reality TV likely stems from his experience with the short-lived dating reality series “Catching Kelce,” which aired on E! in 2016. Reflecting on his time on the show during his Saturday Night Live monologue in March 2023, Kelce humorously recalled, “It was kind of like The Bachelor, except instead of roses I handed out footballs. And instead of watching, people did not. It was a little embarrassing, but I got really good at reality TV.”

Despite his reluctance to return to reality TV, Kelce is open to scripted television.
He has landed a role in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming horror drama “Grotesquerie,” marking his acting debut. “It’s been so much fun,” he shared on the May 14 episode of his New Heights podcast. “Ryan Murphy is an unbelievable writer, director, producer, all of the above, man. There’s nothing he can’t do, and everybody’s just been so helpful in making me feel comfortable.”
Kelce continued, “Even on top of that, just giving me the direction I need and the coaching I need to portray the part that I’m in.”
“Receiver,” the Netflix series Kelce opted out of, follows five of the NFL’s top pass catchers throughout the 2023 season, both on and off the field. The series features Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and Amon-Ra St. Brown. It is set to premiere on Netflix on July 10 with eight episodes.
While Kelce’s days of reality TV may be behind him, his passion for football and newfound interest in scripted television continue to drive his career forward, promising more excitement and entertainment for his fans.
