We had to ask Travis Kelce about his new season look—and it’s all about the mustache. Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce, kicked off Season 3 of their popular “New Heights” podcast on Wednesday. During the episode, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end opened up about his distinctive training camp appearance, giving fans some behind-the-scenes insight into his grooming choices.
“You’ve lost some of your facial hair,” Jason, 36, pointed out to his younger brother as they discussed Travis’s time at training camp and his laid-back approach to his appearance during the grueling sessions.
“Yeah, well, I always do the Andy Reid special, baby,” joked Travis, 34, referencing the iconic Chiefs head coach known for his trademark mustache. Normally sporting a full beard, Travis decided to shave it off in favor of a clean-shaven face paired with a bold mustache, channeling Coach Reid’s signature look.
Jason, who retired from the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this year, was quick to compliment his brother’s new facial hair. “It looks good. It looks clean,” he said, approving of the fresh style.
While Travis may have shed his beard, he opted for a longer hairstyle this season, explaining that he “grew out the hair” to create a new persona that complemented his mustache. “I switched it up,” he shared. “I don’t have the buzz cut. I’m not as super trooper.” The change, he said, was all about becoming “kind of like a different character with the ‘stache.”

Ultimately, Travis made it clear that his new look was just part of the fun. “While I’m at training camp, I really don’t care how I look,” he admitted. “I just want to be there and try to make it the most enjoyable experience ever.”
Travis, who recently inked a massive deal with Amazon worth over $100 million for the podcast, is clearly enjoying himself both on and off the field. In addition to his new look, the Chiefs star, who is also a big fan of the Kentucky Derby, recently purchased a share in a racehorse named Swift Delivery—an apt nod to his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, whom he called the “best performer out here” during the episode.
As for whether his new mustache will bring him luck at the derby or on the football field, fans will just have to wait and see.
