Travis Kelce expressed his appreciation for Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson’s role in his relationship with pop star Taylor Swift.
On “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Thursday, May 23, Andrews and Thompson humorously claimed they orchestrated the connection between the NFL star, 34, and Swift. Host Jimmy Fallon prompted the revelation by asking, “You guys predicted Kelce and Taylor?”
“We did, Jimmy, and you’re welcome,” Thompson playfully responded.
Fallon, applauding their effort, joked, “As a nation, we thank our military, but we owe you a big thanks too. You’ve given us Taylor and Travis, and it’s fantastic.”
“You’re welcome, America,” Thompson laughed.
Kelce later commented on a clip from the show posted to Instagram, writing, “For America!!?? ?? Charissa and Erin are the best! ????.”
Fallon further inquired about how the pair facilitated the matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and the “Fortnight” singer. Andrews explained, “We’ve known him from covering the NFL, and he’s just a great guy. After he mentioned on his podcast about not meeting her at her show, we started advocating for them on our podcast.”
Kelce had appeared on “Saturday Night Live” in a humorous NFL skit in March 2023, prompting further support from Andrews and Thompson.
“We were pushing for it early on,” Thompson added. “Travis was really sweet about it, saying he owed us big time.”
Fallon then showcased a photo of Swift sporting one of Andrews’ jackets from her sports apparel line at the Super Bowl in February 2024.
“That’s your jacket!” exclaimed Fallon.
Andrews confirmed, excitedly sharing how Swift wore her design, “I own a line called WEAR by Erin Andrews. She looked amazing in it, and I was over the moon!”
Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes, Kelce’s teammate, also claimed he had a hand in the matchmaking during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
“I might take some credit too,” Mahomes admitted. “I was the one who invited Travis to that first Taylor concert. He was in my suite, so I like to think I helped set things up.”
Mahomes added, “I encouraged him to just go for it, and knowing Travis, he just does. He’s a great guy.”
While Kelce and Swift have not detailed their first meeting, Swift indicated in her Time Person of the Year interview that they were already a couple by her first Chiefs game in September 2023.
