Is Travis Kelce’s New Lifestyle Affecting His Performance?
Travis Kelce experienced his worst game of the season as the Chiefs fell to the Broncos on Sunday, just two days after attending Game 1 of the World Series. This loss marked the first time since 2015 that Denver won a game against Kansas City.
Previously, Kansas City had defeated Denver in 16 consecutive games leading up to the weekend, making this victory a significant upset.
Kelce, targeted nine times, caught six passes for 58 yards and failed to score. While these statistics may not be terrible in the overall context, they don’t meet the expectations for the best tight end in the league right now, if not of all time.

Before this game, Kelce had not recorded less than 60 receiving yards in a game without scoring. Losing to an NFL team that has been underperforming for much of the season is simply unacceptable.
Some have suggested that Kelce performs better when Taylor Swift is in attendance. While there is some truth to this, there was a more pressing concern this week.
Kelce attended Game 1 of the World Series in Arlington, Texas. He has no known affiliations with either the Rangers or the Diamondbacks, raising questions about why he was there.
To add to the intrigue, he was spotted at a bar either during or after the game. Most NFL players enjoy their Friday nights to some extent, typically traveling on Saturday following a light practice or walkthrough to conclude the week. However, it was somewhat unusual to see Kelce in the Lone Star State on Friday night when his team played in Denver less than 48 hours later.
This situation has sparked different opinions. While Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson sees no issue with Kelce having fun on a Friday, Shannon Sharpe, like many, is perplexed as to why Kelce was in Texas for a game (with no known affiliations) when he resides in Kansas City and was playing in Denver.
Regardless of whether this was the right move or not, the numbers tell a clear story. Kelce failed to score in a significant loss to the Broncos and recorded his second-lowest yardage total of the season, just two days after his appearance at the World Series.
But it’s also worth mentioning the Taylor Swift effect seems to check out, as statistics indicate that he performs significantly better when she’s in attendance.
