Travis Kelce couldn’t resist poking fun at his brother, Jason Kelce, after the retired NFL star accidentally made a Taylor Swift pun during an episode of their podcast, New Heights. The humorous moment occurred while the brothers were discussing the Kansas City Chiefs’ upcoming matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Jason, 36, made a casual comment about the longstanding rivalry between the two teams, saying, “There’s been bad blood between you two teams for four or five years now.” What Jason didn’t realize was that he had unintentionally referenced one of Swift’s biggest hits, the 2014 song “Bad Blood.”
Travis immediately caught the reference and jumped in to tease his brother. “OK, ‘Bad Blood.’ I hear you, ‘Bad Blood,’” he said, calling out the accidental nod to his girlfriend’s song.
Jason, realizing what he had done, couldn’t help but laugh at the slip-up. He insisted it wasn’t intentional, saying, “I don’t even try and do it, it just happens.” Travis responded with a playful jab, “It’s just in you now,” suggesting that Swift’s influence was rubbing off on his older brother.
In an effort to defend himself, Jason noted that Swift has a knack for using everyday phrases that people might naturally say. “She does a good job at just using these very common phrases that people would use regardless,” he explained. But Travis wasn’t letting his brother off the hook so easily, adding with a smirk, “I’ve never heard the phrase until she used it in her song.”
Jason, feigning disbelief, attempted to steer the conversation back to football, but not before Travis had a little more fun with the moment. Their exchange perfectly captured the playful dynamic between the brothers, who have become fan favorites for their candid conversations and humor on the New Heights podcast.
However, the Swift references didn’t stop there. During the same episode, the topic turned to the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, where Swift was a leading nominee with 12 nominations. When Jason read an ad promoting the show, Travis couldn’t resist cheering for his girlfriend, expressing hope that she’d take home a few awards. “Hopefully Taylor can walk away with a few!” Travis said enthusiastically. “Those Moonmen are some of the cooler trophies.”
Jason joined in on the support, enthusiastically shouting, “Let’s go, Tay! Come on, Tay!” before Travis added a playful disclaimer, wishing luck to the other nominees but joking, “Unless you’re up against Tay.”
Although Travis likely won’t be attending the VMAs alongside Swift, as the Chiefs have to prepare for their game against the Bengals, he has clearly been proudly supporting her from afar. Swift attended the Chiefs’ season opener the previous week, where she was seen cheering on Travis.
After the game, the couple headed to New York City for a romantic date night at the popular Brooklyn pizzeria Lucali, followed by a star-studded wedding at Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village. Their whirlwind weekend continued with a PDA-filled appearance at the 2024 US Open men’s singles final, where they were spotted enjoying the match alongside Patrick and Brittany Mahomes.
Despite their busy schedules, it’s clear that Travis and Swift are making time for each other, and his playful banter with Jason shows just how much Swift has become part of the Kelce family conversations.
With their high-profile relationship continuing to make headlines, fans will be watching to see what comes next for this dynamic couple.
