Travis Kelce acknowledged that his surge in fame, both on and off the field, brings its own set of challenges. Despite the increased attention, he and girlfriend Taylor Swift are committed to blocking out external noise surrounding their relationship.
The tight end experienced a significant boost in fame in 2023 after winning his second Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs, hosting Saturday Night Live, and publicly sharing his romance with Taylor Swift. Their relationship has been a headline-grabber throughout the season, with Swift attending numerous games.
During a Friday press conference, Kelce addressed the rise in his fame, acknowledging, “I’d be silly to say I didn’t notice it go up.” He attributed this to winning the Super Bowl and his off-field lifestyle. Despite the attention, he emphasized his focus on the team and compartmentalizing external opinions.
Navigating the challenges of a high-profile relationship, Kelce admitted that external perspectives, particularly regarding his performance on the field, create outside noise. He stressed the importance of staying focused on the team’s objectives and maintaining the right perception within the organization.
Kelce and Swift prioritize their happiness and intentionally ignore external opinions. Despite the media attention and fanfare, they remain steadfast in nurturing their relationship.
‘It’s just the outside noise and dealing with everyone else’s perspective of things,’ he said.
‘You hear it through the media throughout the season when I haven’t had success or things aren’t going well that perhaps we aren’t focused, but if you’re in this building, you know what’s going on. So you’ve got to compartmentalize what you’re hearing and make sure you’re staying on task and giving everybody in the building and on that team the right perception.’
‘As long as we’re happy, we can’t listen to the outside noise,’ he added.
