The moment Travis Kelce comforted a female fan after accidentally hitting her in the head with his golf ball was captured on video, highlighting the NFL star’s compassionate side amidst an unfortunate incident.
While competing in the 35th Annual American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end had several wayward shots that veered into the crowd. On Saturday, a particularly errant shot struck a young girl in the audience, causing her to bleed.
Kelce, who is also known for dating pop sensation Taylor Swift, was on the 16th hole at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course when his drive hit the woman in the back of her head. According to an eyewitness account shared with PEOPLE, streaks of blood were visible in her blonde hair.
Footage from the event shows the three-time Super Bowl winner immediately comforting the injured spectator as she received medical attention on the course. As Kelce stood nearby, another poorly aimed shot flew over the crowd, eliciting a collective gasp. Despite the additional close call, Kelce remained with the fan while security moved in to prevent the crowd from encroaching on the scene.
“I’m gonna say, you guys should probably move out the way,” Kelce advised the spectators as he walked away, showing his concern for everyone’s safety.
His brother, Jason Kelce, who was also participating in the tournament, checked on the woman. Reports indicated that she was unsure which of the Kelce brothers had hit the errant shot. After several minutes of sitting on the ground, she was able to stand on her own and was eventually transported off the course by staff, allowing play to resume.

Despite the mishap, Kelce ended his first round tied for 62nd place with legendary pitcher Roger Clemens and SNL alum Colin Jost, a significant departure from his victory in the 2023 tournament.
Interestingly, Travis had offered Jason some humorous advice about the event during a recent podcast episode of “New Heights.”
“This is my first time out in Lake Tahoe, do you have any advice?” Jason asked.
“My advice would be don’t feel bad if you hit somebody because they bought the ticket,” Travis joked. “It’s a bunch of amateurs out there trying to play golf, so don’t feel bad. People have been hit before. They got EMTs, whatever it’s called, they got right there at every hole. Everybody will be fine.”
Kelce’s advice proved to be prophetic early in the tournament. In addition to hitting the young woman, another one of his tee shots struck a man in the arm on the first hole.
A video posted on social media platform X showed Kelce walking down the course with a sheriff before locating the man who had been hit. Upon meeting the fan, who was wearing a bright blue button-down shirt, Kelce shook his hand and leaned in to kiss his arm, a gesture that was met with laughs and cheers from the crowd at Edgewood.
The weekend’s events underscored Kelce’s humanity and sense of responsibility, even amidst the pressures of competition, reinforcing his status as not only a talented athlete but also a considerate and empathetic individual.
