Travis Kelce and his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, couldn’t stop laughing when Jason Kelce experienced an awkward yet hilarious wardrobe mishap ahead of his “Monday Night Countdown” debut this week. The incident provided some unexpected humor, and Travis made sure to bring it up during the latest episode of his and Jason’s New Heights podcast.
Jason, who joined ESPN as an analyst after retiring from the NFL in March, appeared on Monday’s broadcast sporting a white button-up shirt. But before the broadcast began, he faced a wardrobe crisis. He joked on-air that his “tits” were struggling to stay contained in the shirt, a line that instantly had fans—and his brother—cracking up.
“Me and Taylor were watching it, absolutely dying laughing at that,” Travis shared on their podcast Wednesday. “It was the perfect way to introduce everybody to what they’re going to get over the next 18 weeks.”
Jason’s wardrobe problem stemmed from forgetting his travel bag “in the truck,” leaving him scrambling for a shirt at the last minute. He ended up buying one at the mall before heading to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, for the Monday night matchup between the 49ers and the Jets, where the 49ers won 32-19.
“I’ve lost a little bit of weight, but my tits are still struggling,” Jason joked during the broadcast, causing fellow ESPN analysts Ryan Clark and Marcus Spears to burst into laughter.

Jason, who spent 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles as a center before retiring, had previously spoken about his goal to lose weight post-retirement. While he was proud of shedding some pounds, the shirt mishap provided some unexpected comic relief.
Ryan Clark jumped in on the fun, praising Jason for his effort. “Hey, the fact that a Hall of Fame center can shop at Lululemon is a big accomplishment,” he said, drawing more laughs from the crew.
Travis, not one to let a good joke go, poked fun at Jason on their podcast. “Those buttons were holding on by a thread,” Travis teased, saying he was half-expecting his brother to go shirtless on-air. “It was stretching,” Jason admitted with a laugh, adding, “My belly was swimming in that shirt.”
The conversation turned even more lighthearted when Travis asked if that was the first time the word “tits” had been said on ESPN. Jason explained that he got asked about it on Twitter and added his own musings on the term. “Tits is a funny word. It’s not technically against the rules to say on a broadcast, but it’s definitely one of those words that doesn’t typically belong on air,” Jason said.
Travis continued to have fun with the moment, joking that anything goes in broadcasting these days. “Pat McAfee’s done a couple of these shirtless, I think,” Jason chimed in, referencing the bold antics of fellow sports analyst McAfee. Jason closed the banter with a cheeky remark, “Suns out, tits out.”
Beyond the laughs, Jason reflected on his first experience as an analyst for “Monday Night Countdown.” Despite his humorous demeanor, he admitted that nerves got the better of him before the broadcast. “I did not feel prepared,” Jason confessed. “I was very nervous. I didn’t know what to expect.”
However, once he was on set with seasoned professionals like Clark and Spears, his confidence grew. “ESPN did a great job setting everything up, and thankfully, I was on set with guys that have done it a bunch,” he said. “It was a lot of fun.”
Jason’s next broadcast will bring him back to familiar territory, as the Eagles—his former team—are set to host the Atlanta Falcons at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia next Monday. Despite the initial jitters, it seems like Jason Kelce is settling into his new role, with a few laughs along the way.
As for his shirt and nerves? Jason’s lighthearted attitude—and brotherly ribbing from Travis—will likely carry him through the rest of the season with plenty of memorable moments to come.
