Travis Kelce found himself wishing he could have been at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows in Miami this past weekend, as he dealt with a serious case of “FOMO” (fear of missing out). On the latest episode of his “New Heights” podcast, co-hosted with his brother Jason Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs star revealed how much he regretted missing Swift’s performances at Hard Rock Stadium while he was busy with his NFL duties.
Jason Kelce, who did attend one of the concerts in Miami on Friday, couldn’t stop raving about the experience. “Dude, it was on another level,” Jason said. He recalled how he even texted Travis mid-show, saying, “Dude, this rain, Tay is killing it.” The rain only added to the spectacle, making the night even more memorable. Jason, who had already attended two Eras Tour shows in London over the summer, said the energy in Miami was unmatched. “The Miami stadium was just insane. It was incredible,” he said.
Travis, 35, who had to skip the Miami concerts to play in the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, confessed that he was feeling left out. “I had all the FOMO in the world with the entire family and a lot of our friends being there,” he admitted. While he was focused on football, it was hard not to think about the excitement he was missing.
Travis shared that he had heard from other friends who were at the Miami show, and they echoed Jason’s sentiments about the night’s energy. “A bunch of friends were down by the stage, and they’ve been to a few shows overseas, and they were saying the same thing — Miami was on another level,” Travis explained.
He went on to praise Swift’s performances, calling them “absolutely electric” and “the greatest show that’s ever been on stage.” Travis clearly admires his girlfriend’s talents and couldn’t help but express his wish to have been part of the Miami experience. “Man, I wish I was there. I wish I was there,” he repeated.
Jason reassured his brother that their whole family, including their mother Donna Kelce, who attended her first Eras Tour show, had an amazing time. “Not only did everybody have a good time, but everyone’s been texting over the last couple of days like, ‘Dude, she’s just incredible, and the show’s incredible,’” Jason shared. He emphasized just how special the Miami show was, saying, “Miami was another level of it. I’m excited for her to be back on tour for this final leg of the Eras run. It was pretty awesome, so keep killing it, Tay.”
Travis, though sidelined from the concert, made sure to send his appreciation Swift’s way. “Shoutout to Tay Tay for powering through a few rain shows there!” he said, giving her a nod for performing through the challenging weather conditions.
While Taylor Swift was dazzling thousands of fans in Miami with three sold-out shows, Travis and the Chiefs were busy taking care of business on the field, defeating the San Francisco 49ers to remain the NFL’s only undefeated team this season. But even during her concert, some Swifties speculated that the singer gave a subtle shoutout to her boyfriend.
During Sunday’s performance, Swift changed the lyrics of her song “Karma” from, “Karma is the guy on the screen,” to, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs, coming straight home to me.” While Swift has changed the lyrics at previous shows when Travis was in attendance, this time, fans believed it was a playful nod to the Chiefs’ victory.
Fans at the concert also noticed that the stadium’s hallways were broadcasting the Chiefs-49ers game on TV screens, a further connection between the two worlds of football and music. Some even speculated that Travis showed his support for Swift in his own subtle way, as he was spotted in an all-blue pregame outfit.
The color choice sparked conversation among fans since Swift had debuted four new blue costumes during her Miami shows.
As Swift kicked off the final U.S. leg of her Eras Tour in Miami, she’s set to continue her sold-out performances with her next stop in New Orleans this Friday.
Meanwhile, Travis remains focused on his NFL season, but it’s clear that the bond between the pop superstar and the football icon continues to captivate fans across both arenas.
