It appears that many people have been mispronouncing the last name of Travis and Jason Kelce.
In a clip from “Inside the NFL,” recorded during the Kansas City Chiefs’ frigid game against the Miami Dolphins on January 13, defensive tackle Chris Jones can be heard setting the record straight. “So y’all know it’s not even Travis ‘Kel-see’?” he mentioned on the bench, clarifying that it’s actually pronounced “Travis ‘Kels.'” His revelation surprised some teammates.
Interestingly, this revelation might not be new to followers of the Kelce brothers’ podcast, “New Heights.” In a February 2023 episode, Travis and Jason discussed family secrets with their parents, Donna and Ed Kelce. They playfully confronted their father about “changing” their last name.
During the podcast, Jason questioned his father, Ed, about the decision to alter the family name. Ed explained that he grew tired of correcting people and decided to adopt the pronunciation “Kel-see.” The brothers expressed amusement and wondered why they only discovered the original pronunciation in their 20s.
The clip resurfaced amid reports of Jason’s potential retirement from the NFL after the Philadelphia Eagles’ playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In a recent episode of “New Heights,” Jason addressed speculation about his future, emphasizing that he has intentionally kept his intentions undisclosed.

On the other hand, Travis, who has faced retirement speculations as well, stated that he has no reason to stop playing football and remains passionate about the sport. He hinted at a potential transition to scripted work, considering his positive experience hosting “Saturday Night Live” in March 2023 and making cameo appearances.
Travis also featured in documentaries and dating shows, showcasing his diverse interests beyond football.
