The rims at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, were unforgiving to Washington Wizards rookie Alex Sarr during his team’s 82-80 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday.
Sarr, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, had what might be considered the worst performance in NBA Summer League history.
The Frenchman attempted 15 shots, including seven from beyond the arc, and missed every single one. He also went 0-for-2 from the free-throw line, ending the game with zero points.
Fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) were mostly in disbelief at Sarr’s historically poor shooting performance, with many expressing shock and disappointment.

Entering Tuesday’s game, Sarr was shooting just 30.8% from the field. It seemed almost impossible for his shooting percentage to drop further, yet his third Summer League game saw it plummet even more. This performance may have inadvertently shifted some of the critical spotlight away from Bronny James.
Despite his offensive struggles, Sarr still managed to make an impact defensively. The 7-footer grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three shots, adding to his total of nine blocks over three Summer League games.
While Sarr’s offensive performance was disheartening, his defensive presence and ability to contribute in other areas provide a glimmer of hope for Wizards fans.
As the Summer League progresses, Sarr will need to find his shooting touch to fully realize his potential as a top draft pick.
