Tony Romo is clearing the air.
The former NFL QB turned announce has clarified why he repeatedly refers to Taylor Swift as Travis Kelce’s “wife” during broadcasts, revealing that it’s all in good humor. Despite the fact that Kelce and Swift are not actually married, Romo has been playfully making this reference during games.
Romo confirmed that it’s meant to be a joke, acknowledging that the humor may not resonate with everyone but asserting that people generally enjoy it.
“It’s a joke. I know sometimes people don’t think so … sometimes the humor doesn’t go over as well,” he told reporters during a virtual press conference this week. “But I think people take to it … people come up to me all the time and they say, ‘what do you know? Do you think they’re going to be (married)?’ And everything.
“People love it. And they go crazy for it. And it’s Taylor, she’s just as big a personality as anybody in the world right now,” Romo added. “And I think that’s a great thing that she’s at the football games, and it adds value, and our team does it the right way … it just comes across organically.”

He emphasized that Swift’s presence at football games adds value and excitement, and he appreciates the organic and lighthearted nature of the ongoing joke.
Tony Romo, while hoping that people can appreciate the fun and playful aspect of his commentary, acknowledges that humor can be subjective, and perhaps he should leave the jokes to professional comedians.
