The standout personality of Monday night’s game between the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers was undoubtedly Tommy DeVito’s agent, Sean Stellato.
Adorned in a black pinstripe suit, gold chain, and fedora, Stellato became a social media sensation every time the cameras captured him. His distinctive appearance, soon to be honored with an induction into the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame, drew even more attention during the Manningcast of the game, hosted by Eli and Peyton Manning.
Peyton Manning humorously commented, “He looks like Johnny Fontane from The Godfather,” while at another point in the broadcast, he observed, “They’re showing the agent more than they do the Chiefs’ family section.”
Eli Manning joined the banter by sharing supposed inside information about Stellato’s nickname in college, calling him “Sean ‘Slimy’ Stellato.” However, Stellato contradicted this on Tuesday morning during a WFAN interview with Boomer and Gio.
Disputing the “Slimy” moniker, Stellato said, “I don’t know if that’s just him being a southern dude, but you know what, I look at it as elegant. I don’t understand where ‘Slimy’ comes from.” He expressed curiosity about the origin of the nickname and challenged Peyton Manning to a 40-yard dash.
Stellato humorously suggested, “I don’t know where that came from, but it is what it is. I think you might have watched too much Goodfellas.”
In the age of the internet, fame can be fleeting, and perceptions can quickly shift.
