After a public fallout over a disagreement related to a scheduled appearance, New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito has opted to change agents.
Initially, DeVito had committed to a public appearance at Coniglio’s Old Fashioned pizzeria in Morristown, New Jersey, on Tuesday. However, the event had to be canceled when DeVito’s then-agent, Sean Stellato, unexpectedly raised the appearance fee from $10,000 to $20,000.
In a recent update, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reveals that DeVito has replaced Stellato with Maxx Lepselter to handle his marketing representation:
“The Tommy DeVito hysteria will have a new orchestrator for his off-the-field endeavors, as colorful, fedora-wearing Sean Stellato is out and Maxx Lepselter is in, The Post had learned.
The 25-year-old undrafted rookie, currently the Giants’ starting quarterback, is honing his craft on the field and trying to establish a foothold in the NFL.
Lepselter, the president of Maxx MGMT, met with DeVito on Dec. 1, five days after DeVito helped the Giants beat the Patriots 10-7 for his second NFL victory on Nov. 26. Two days later, with DeVito and his family in the room, Lepselter was hired and his MRN (Marketing Representation Notice) was filed with the NFL Players Association.”
Despite the prior controversy, DeVito honored his commitment to the pizzeria appearance on Tuesday, not charging a fee as a goodwill gesture.
DeVito has gained popularity among Giants fans during a challenging season. The undrafted rookie from Illinois has secured three victories in five starts, boasting a 64.4 percent completion rate for 1,032 yards and eight touchdowns with only three interceptions.
The Giants, standing at 5-9, will aim to disrupt the Philadelphia Eagles’ playoff aspirations on Christmas Day, as they face off against the 10-4 Eagles, who are tied with the Dallas Cowboys for the lead in the NFC East.
With this agent switch, it appears that Sean Stellato’s time in the spotlight is coming to an end.
