Shedeur Sanders, the quarterback for Colorado, has received support from none other than Tom Brady himself.
After his remarkable performance in the Buffaloes’ victory over TCU on Saturday, Sanders revealed that the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback sent him a motivating text message, saying, “Don’t be satisfied,” as reported by Nikki Edwards of Rivals.com.
Reflecting on his interaction with Tom Brady, Sanders shared on Tuesday, “Working with Tom, it was more about having conversations with him and gaining insights on how to improve each week. It’s pretty cool to hear from him and know that he’s still keeping an eye on my progress.”
Brady and Sanders have previously trained together, and Sanders has a name, image, and likeness (NIL) deal with Brady’s apparel company, the Brady Brand.
During the Saturday game, the 21-year-old quarterback put on an extraordinary performance, throwing for an impressive 510 yards and securing four touchdowns. Sanders made history by becoming the first Colorado quarterback to achieve over 500 passing yards in a single game.
Sanders’ outstanding display has propelled Colorado into the AP Top 25 rankings, with the Buffaloes now holding the 22nd spot in the nation.
Discussing the impact of working with Brady, Sanders emphasized, “Collaborating with him has really helped me understand that we should not just focus on our strengths, as we naturally tend to do. We’re going to perform well in those areas regardless. Instead, we should concentrate on our weaknesses and areas where we need improvement.”
Colorado is gearing up to face Nebraska in its second game of the season, scheduled for September 9th.
