The Netflix “Roast of Tom Brady” delivered on its promise to skewer one of the greatest athletes of all time.
The celebrities on the dais pulled no punches, and anyone who watched the highlights of Brady’s roast would attest to that. While the ex-football player himself appeared to handle everything with ease, the negative aspects of the roast deeply affected Brady’s family.
No subject, including his children, ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan, and ex-wife Gisele Bündchen, seemed off-limits.
An insider told People magazine that two of his children, whom he shares with Bündchen, have reportedly been “affected” by the program. Bündchen’s lover Joaquim Valente, her jiu-jitsu instructor, was also the target of several jokes.
During his conversation on “The Pivot” podcast, Tom Brady revealed that while jokes about him didn’t hurt, jokes that touched on his children did.
“I loved when the jokes were about me, but I didn’t like how it affected my kids,” said Brady. “So it’s the hardest part about it, the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way and all of a sudden you realize I wouldn’t do that again because of the way it affected, actually, the people who I care about the most in the world.”

During the roast, comedian Nikki Glaser had one of the most brutal moments when she cracked a joke about Brady leaving Moynahan, eliciting a strong reaction from the crowd.
“You’re the best to ever play… for too long,” she told Brady. “I mean, you retired, then you came back, and then you retired again. I mean, I get it; it’s hard to walk away from something that’s not your pregnant girlfriend. It’s tough… To be fair, he didn’t know she was pregnant, he just thought she was getting fat.”
Reposting a statement on her Instagram, Moynahan appeared to respond to the criticism. “Loyal people take s— more personal because they never would’ve did that s— to you,” the message stated. She captioned it with just the words, “So true.”
Tom Brady’s roast included multiple jokes about Gisele, which she hated.
Gisele Bündchen was not amused by the numerous jokes regarding her relationship with jiu-jitsu coach Joaquim Valente and her and Tom’s divorce. According to a People insider, the supermodel is “deeply disappointed by the disrespectful portrayal of her family on Sunday evening’s roast show,” adding that her priority is to “support her children who were affected by the irresponsible content that was broadcast.”
The insider also noted, “This past week, Gisele has been tirelessly dedicated to aiding those in need in her home state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, which is grappling with the worst flooding in its history. She was concerned about family affected by the devastating floods, so to hear her life being joked about was very disappointing.”
