There’s only so much you can do to try and stop Caitlin Clark.
Following LSU’s loss to Iowa, where Caitlin Clark scored an impressive 41 points in the Elite Eight matchup, Tigers head coach Kim Mulkey acknowledged the prowess of the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer.
“There’s not a whole lot of strategy. You got to guard her, nobody seems to be able to guard her. … She’s a generational player,” Mulkey remarked, as reported by The Reveille’s Tyler Harden. “She makes everyone around her better. That’s what the great ones do.”

Instead of employing double-teams against Clark on the perimeter, LSU focused on limiting her playmaking abilities. However, Clark managed to capitalize on the single coverage, sinking nine three-pointers on 20 attempts and exploiting driving lanes.
Despite the efforts of LSU’s point guards Hailey Van Lith and Last-Tear Poa to contain Clark, both struggled to keep her in check.
“Caitlin’s very skilled. She’s a great player. She hit some tough shots,” Van Lith acknowledged. “There’s not a lot you can do with some of the shots she hit.”
