A weary Tiger Woods arrived at Royal Troon after a sleepless flight, distressed by the attempted assassination of former US President Donald Trump.
Woods spent his entire journey from Florida on Saturday watching coverage of the shocking incident.
Instead of arriving refreshed for a practice round on Sunday, in preparation for this week’s 152nd Open Championship at the Scottish links, the 48-year-old golfer admitted to BBC Sport, “I didn’t accomplish a lot because I wasn’t in the right frame of mind.”
“It was a long night,” Woods continued, referencing the assassination attempt. “That’s all we watched the entire time on the way over here. I didn’t sleep at all on the flight, and then we just got on the golf course.”

The unsettling news clearly affected Woods, making it difficult for him to focus on his game upon arrival.
As he steps onto the iconic Scottish links, his fans and fellow competitors will be watching closely to see how he manages both his physical and mental state in this prestigious tournament.
