Despite recording the worst score of his professional career at the 2024 Masters tournament, Tiger Woods remained upbeat about his return to golf and committed to competing in three more major tournaments later this year.
At 48 years old, Woods finished the Masters 16-over par, marking his highest score in an illustrious career that has seen numerous records and victories. Although his score positioned him well out of contention, he still achieved a historic milestone by making his 24th consecutive cut at the iconic tournament.
The PGA Tour highlighted this achievement on Friday, while Woods expressed to ESPN his belief in his ability to win the tournament after making the cut. This optimism came despite it being his first competitive round since withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational in February due to health issues, as reported by the Associated Press.
By Saturday, however, Woods acknowledged that his performance did not meet his expectations, finishing the weekend 16 strokes over par, as Scottie Scheffler claimed his second green jacket in three years.

Reflecting on his performance, Woods told the AP, “Coming in here, not having played a full tournament in a very long time, it was a good fight on Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately, Saturday didn’t quite turn out the way I wanted it to.”
Despite the setbacks, Woods described the week as positive and announced his plans to compete in the upcoming PGA Championship in May, the U.S. Open in June, and the British Open in July.
Looking forward, Woods emphasized his ongoing physical preparation: “I’m just going to keep lifting, keep the motor going, keep the body moving, keep getting stronger, keep progressing,” he said. “Hopefully the practice sessions will keep getting longer.”
Woods, whose recent years have been plagued by injuries and a significant car crash in 2021 that severely injured his right leg, remains determined. He continues to deal with daily pain, which he discussed openly before the Masters, noting his preference for warm, humid conditions to help manage his discomfort.
The Majors always have an extra spark when Tiger Woods is in the field.
