Joe Burrow’s challenging season takes an unexpected turn.
Joseph Maldonado-Passage, better known as Joe Exotic, who gained widespread recognition in 2020 following the release of Netflix’s “Tiger King” documentary, is now reaching out to Cincinnati Bengals’ standout quarterback Joe Burrow for assistance in securing his release from prison.
Joe Exotic is currently serving a 21-year prison sentence for convictions related to animal abuse and his involvement in a murder-for-hire plot targeting Carole Baskin, the CEO of Big Cat Rescue, who also featured prominently in the “Tiger King” series.

Taking to his X (formerly known as Twitter) account, Joe Exotic penned a letter to Burrow in which he requested $20,000 to retain legal representation.
In his letter, Joe Exotic also proposed the possibility of collaborating with Burrow to advocate for the welfare of animals and to prevent them from being confined in cages.
It’s worth noting that Joe Burrow, a former star of the LSU Tigers, has expressed his opposition to the practice of keeping animals in cages. Notably, the school’s official mascot, Mike the Tiger, resides in a dedicated habitat on the university’s campus.
The “Tiger King” documentary garnered immense viewership and popularity on Netflix when it was released in March 2020. Tens of millions of viewers tuned in to watch the show during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, which prompted lockdowns worldwide.
In terms of financial resources, Burrow wouldn’t face constraints if he chose to assist “Joe Exotic.” The first overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft recently inked a lucrative five-year contract worth $275 million, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history.
