Former NFL star Tim McKyer, renowned for his achievements including three Super Bowl victories during his illustrious career, has found himself in legal trouble after reportedly being arrested in Florida for a hit-and-run incident.
Reports indicate that the 60-year-old athlete was apprehended earlier this week in Riviera Beach following an incident where his Tesla allegedly collided with five parked cars in a parking garage. McKyer purportedly fled the scene, leaving behind several damaged vehicles, some of which were rendered inoperable.
Authorities have disclosed that McKyer faces multiple charges, including five counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage exceeding $50. Additionally, he received a criminal citation for leaving the scene and a traffic infraction for failure to report the incident.
According to TMZ, Riviera Beach police revealed that McKyer attempted to evade detection by parking his vehicle on a different floor of the garage before departing. Upon being located by law enforcement, McKyer exhibited signs of alcohol consumption and displayed impaired balance.
Police say their investigation revealed that after wrecking the cars … McKyer backed his Tesla into an open space on a different floor of the garage — before he left without making anyone aware of the damage he had caused.
According to the docs, Riviera Beach Police Dept. officers made contact with McKyer a short time later … and they claim he showed signs of inebriation — namely, cops say he reeked of alcohol and struggled with his balance.
McKyer was taken into custody for leaving the scene of an accident with property damage … and transported to a nearby hospital. While there, cops say he admitted he was the only one who had driven his Tesla that evening.
Following his apprehension, McKyer was taken into custody before being transported to the hospital. It was during his hospitalization that McKyer purportedly confessed to being the sole driver involved in the incident. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 4 to address the charges against him.
McKyer’s football career spanned from 1986 to 1997, during which he played for seven different NFL teams, including the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins, and Denver Broncos. Notably, he secured Super Bowl victories with the 49ers in 1988 and 1989, as well as with the Broncos in 1998, marking a remarkable achievement in his tenure as a professional football player.
