Terry McLaurin, wide receiver for the Washington Commanders, announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Caitlin Winfrey in an Instagram post before the Christmas Eve game against the Jets.
In the Instagram post, McLaurin expressed his excitement about spending the rest of his life with Winfrey and thanked God for bringing their journeys together. The proposal took place at The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory, and the couple posed for photos, including a sunset picture and one stepping into a boat.
McLaurin and Winfrey met at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, where McLaurin played a significant role on four state title teams before committing to Ohio State as a Class of 2014 recruit.
In previous Instagram posts, McLaurin has shared heartfelt messages about his relationship with Winfrey. He has described how she makes him better and lights up any room with her infectious personality.
Drafted in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, McLaurin has achieved over 1,000 receiving yards in each of the past three seasons. In July 2022, he signed a three-year extension worth $71 million, solidifying his position as the Commanders’ top receiving option through the end of the 2025 season.
In the Commanders’ 30-28 loss to the Jets, McLaurin caught three passes for 50 yards as the team benched starting quarterback Sam Howell in the third quarter and turned to Jacoby Brissett. McLaurin will face the 49ers and Cowboys in the final two games of the regular season.
