Terrell Owens recently shared an intriguing story about how he offered to come out of retirement and play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021.
Despite his illustrious career, Owens’ proposal was met with silence from Tom Brady.
Owens, who retired in 2010, reached out to Brady and the Buccaneers at the end of the 2021 season, offering his services to fill the gap left by Antonio Brown’s departure. However, Brady did not respond to Owens’ offer.
“Tom Brady ignored me, bro,” Owens revealed in an interview first transcribed by Athlon Sports. “It was at the end of the season, and they didn’t need someone to play the full season. They just needed someone to fill some holes with AB leaving at the receiver position.”

Had he signed with the Buccaneers, Owens would have been 48 years old, making his potential comeback a remarkable story.
Despite not getting a chance to join Brady and the Bucs, Owens’ career remains one for the ages.
Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018, Owens spent the first eight seasons of his career with the San Francisco 49ers. He later played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, and Cincinnati Bengals. Over his storied career, Owens recorded nine 1,000-yard seasons and finished with 1,078 receptions, 15,934 yards, and 153 touchdowns.
Owens’ legacy as one of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history is firmly cemented. His story of almost returning to the field at 48 adds another fascinating chapter to his remarkable football journey.
