Former NFL star Terrell Davis found himself in a distressing situation this past weekend when he was handcuffed and removed from a flight after an incident with a flight attendant.
Davis and his family were traveling on a United Airlines flight from Denver to Orange County on Saturday when the situation escalated. Upon landing in California, Davis was met by FBI agents and placed in handcuffs.
The former Denver Broncos star took to Instagram to share his side of the story. According to Davis, the incident began when his son asked a flight attendant for a cup of ice but was either ignored or not heard. Davis then tapped the flight attendant on the arm to get their attention, which reportedly led the attendant to react aggressively, shouting, “Don’t hit me,” before walking away.
Davis claimed he had no further interaction with the flight attendant during the remainder of the flight. Despite this, six agents, including FBI personnel, boarded the plane upon arrival and immediately handcuffed him.
“I was then removed from the flight while being recorded by multiple passengers as I was paraded off of the plane in handcuffs by the officers,” Davis explained in his post.

In a subsequent update, Davis revealed that he was cleared of any wrongdoing shortly after being detained. The agents involved “profusely apologized” to him and his family and offered their support. Davis is now demanding an explanation from United Airlines.
“These lies and the ensuing events have the capacity to tarnish the reputation I have spent decades building,” the Hall of Famer wrote. “This person should not be able to do this again to anyone in the future.”
TMZ reported that the FBI confirmed agents responded to a report of an in-flight incident at John Wayne Airport and detained an individual for questioning. While the individual was not named, it aligns with Davis’s account. The FBI stated that the person was cooperative and was released to continue his travels.
Davis added that the incident has left his family traumatized, having witnessed him being handcuffed by law enforcement. It appears that Davis is considering legal action in response to the incident.
