A Kansas City Chiefs coach recently disclosed that Taylor Swift had quietly been attending some of the team’s games last season, prior to her public relationship with Travis Kelce emerging in the fall.
Dave Merritt revealed on ‘The Sports Shop with Reese and K-Mac’ podcast that the pop star began showing her support for the Chiefs’ starting tight end discreetly before making her first appearance at a game in Kansas City in September. He also spoke about Kelce’s amazing transformation.
According to Merritt, who has been with the Chiefs since 2019, Swift initially attended games without drawing attention until the cameras captured her presence.
‘When [Taylor] started to come around, it was privately,’ the Chiefs defensive backs coach said. ‘She was coming into the stadiums without people knowing until the camera put a big spotlight on it.’

Despite potential concerns about increased exposure, Merritt noted that all players supported the couple’s relationship from the start and immediately welcomed Swift into their inner circle, considering her part of the Chiefs family.
Swift and Kelce reportedly began dating secretly last summer, with Swift making her first public appearance at a Chiefs game when they faced the Chicago Bears on Sept. 24.
Throughout the season, Swift attended a total of 13 Chiefs games, including one in New York, and was seen celebrating with Kelce after significant victories, such as the AFC Championship game against the Baltimore Ravens last month and the Super Bowl on Feb. 11.
Kelce reciprocated his support by attending Swift’s concerts in Sydney, Australia, last week and in Argentina last November.
