There are NFL fans expressing fatigue over Taylor Swift’s frequent appearances on their screens during Kansas City Chiefs games. However, a closer look at the actual screen time she receives tells a different story.
During Sunday’s AFC Championship Game, an observant Reddit user, JPAnalyst, conducted a stopwatch analysis and found that Swift appeared on camera seven times, accumulating a total of 39 seconds throughout the three-hour and eight-minute broadcast.
This amounts to just 0.39% of the entire broadcast, slightly more than the coverage of people preparing and eating crabcakes and slightly less than the combined shots of the crabcakes and the local Baltimore aquarium.
While this home-conducted study may not be enough to deter complaints about the Taylor Swift storyline during games, it does suggest that the issue may be exaggerated.
As Super Bowl LVIII approaches on February 11, it remains to be seen if Swift will receive more airtime, continuing what some call the “Taylor Swift NFL takeover.”
