Chiefs Kingdom is there for each other.
Taylor Swift made a generous donation of $100,000 to a GoFundMe campaign established for the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, the Kansas City radio DJ tragically killed in the mass shooting during the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory parade on Wednesday. Swift, who has become an honorary member of the Chiefs nation due to her relationship with star tight end Travis Kelce, swiftly met and surpassed the original $75,000 fundraising goal set up to support the family of the beloved 44-year-old married mother of two.
A spokesperson for Swift confirmed that the singer made two donations of $50,000 each to the cause early Friday morning (Feb. 16). At the time of reporting, the GoFundMe had amassed over $177,000 from 1,400 donations.

A statement on the donations page expressed gratitude, saying, “She was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. We ask that you continue to keep her family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of her life. This fund will help provide vital financial support to her family as they process this unthinkable tragedy.” The average donation ranged from $5 to $100.
Swift also left a heartfelt message with her donation, writing, “Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift.”
Lopez-Galvan was a respected mobile DJ for over 15 years and co-hosted “Taste of Tejano” on local station KKFI since March 2022. The station released a statement mourning her loss, stating, “It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez, host of Taste of Tejano lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs’ rally. Our hearts and prayers are with her family.”
The shooting occurred amidst nearly one million Chiefs fans attending the downtown rally celebrating the team’s third Super Bowl win in five years. The gunfire claimed Lopez-Galvan’s life and injured 22 others, with half of the victims under the age of 16.
According to reports, a personal dispute among several individuals sparked the shooting, with police detaining three juveniles in connection with the incident; one suspect was later released. Amidst the chaos, one individual was tackled by bystanders before being detained, amidst a massive police presence of over 800 officers.
Kelce expressed his grief over the tragedy, tweeting, “I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today. My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me.”
Despite the mass shooting, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas affirmed that the city will continue to host parades and mass celebrations in the future, including a St. Patrick’s Day parade next month.
However, the incident has sparked debates over gun laws, with Democrat Sen. Steve Roberts acknowledging the gun violence challenge while Republican Sen. and gubernatorial candidate Bill Eigel defended Missouri’s gun laws, emphasizing the role of armed citizens in preventing such tragedies.
