On Sunday, a Tampa Bay Rays player celebrated a hit with a tribute to presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The incident occurred during a game against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium in Bronx, New York.
The Rays were leading 3-0 with two outs in the top of the 5th inning when infielder Taylor Walls hit a double to right field. Upon reaching second base, Walls raised his fist in the air towards the Tampa Bay dugout and shouted, “Fight! Fight!”

This celebration was inspired by an event on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, where an attempted assassination of Trump took place.
During a campaign rally, a bullet struck the former president in the ear, causing him to bleed from the right side of his face. As Secret Service agents were escorting Trump off the stage, he stopped, raised his fist in the air, and yelled “fight!” to the crowd.
Taylor Walls is not the first MLB player to show support for Trump in such a manner. The St. Louis Cardinals also displayed what appeared to be a Trump-inspired team celebration after Alec Burleson hit a home run in a victory over the Atlanta Braves on the same day.
The aftermath of the assassination attempt has seen numerous prominent athletes express their support for Trump.
