The Rakuten girls love them some Shohei Ohtani.
Los Angeles Angels’ superstars Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout hit home runs in the same game, marking the 26th time since they became teammates. Their contributions helped the Angels record their fourth consecutive win with a 7-3 triumph over the Boston Red Sox, completing the sweep.
Trout acknowledged the feat, saying that good things happen when they both strike the ball well. The Angels’ rookie Zach Neto also aided the cause with his first three-hit game, including a three-run homer in the second inning.
Ohtani, meanwhile, hit his team-best 12th homer in the third inning, a magnificent shot against James Paxton’s pitch that was 3.74 feet above the ground – the second-highest on which he has ever homered. He also had some fun meeting the Rakuten Girls. You can see all their interactions below:

Since joining the Angels in 2018, Ohtani and Trout have homered in the same game 26 times, with the Angels now holding a 4-0 record this season when they achieve this feat. This places them third on the list of most occurrences by teammate pairs, with Cody Bellinger and Max Muncy holding first place (33) and Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton coming in second (28), according to research from ESPN Stats & Information.
