Following the unexpected loss of the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, T.J. Watt’s frustration with the NFL’s officiating reached a breaking point.
In his post-game media address, the Steelers’ standout pass rusher and All-Pro voiced his sentiments, stating, “The NFL has something going against me, so I don’t want to talk any more negatively toward them. I don’t know what I did, but I’ll leave it at that.”
Support from fans flooded social media, rallying behind Watt.
“He’s not wrong,” noted one user, pointing out that Watt is held on at least 20% of the snaps he plays.
“TJ is held on most plays,” echoed another fan. “I guess if they called them all, they would never finish a game, so they just let it go. He’s likely the best defensive player currently playing the game. They did much the same to James Harrison. I call it selective penalization. The refs are in control.”
A tweet from a fan challenged others not to label Watt a crybaby, emphasizing that he consistently faces holding during plays, with none being called in the game.
Despite contending with an injury, Watt showcased resilience by recording six tackles and half a sack in the Steelers’ 24-10 loss. His stellar season performance includes amassing 14 sacks, positioning him second in the league.
