A surprising betting favorite has emerged as a potential addition to the New York Jets, either through a trade or free agency, in the wake of Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending injury.
Regrettably, Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury just four offensive snaps into his debut for the Jets during Monday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills.
On the following day, the Jets received official confirmation that the injury was indeed an Achilles tear, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.
BetOnline has now unveiled the odds for which quarterback the Jets may acquire next. Interestingly, free agent and Super Bowl 52 MVP Nick Foles is the frontrunner at 3/1, followed closely by another free agent quarterback, Colt McCoy, at 4/1.
Taysom Hill, the versatile player from the New Orleans Saints, follows at 5/1. Former Philadelphia Eagles star Carson Wentz is listed at 7/1, while the retired Tom Brady holds 20/1 odds.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh has announced that Zach Wilson will be the team’s starting quarterback moving forward.
Wilson took over during Monday’s game against Buffalo and managed to lead the Jets to a 22-16 overtime victory.
Wilson was drafted as the second overall pick by the Jets in 2021, but he struggled in his first two seasons, amassing an 8-14-0 record with just 15 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.
Despite these challenges, the Jets retained Wilson after acquiring Rodgers via a trade with the Green Bay Packers. Now, the former BYU standout suddenly finds himself with an opportunity to go from zero to hero in the city of New York.
