Sam Ponder, the host of ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown,” shared some distressing news this week about her parents.
Ponder revealed that her parents are currently stranded in Israel with no means of returning home. In a bid to seek assistance, she reached out to United Airlines on social media.
Ponder’s urgent message to United Airlines read, “Please help Americans like my parents get out immediately @united Leaving American citizens stranded when they already had flights and Iran says they’re going to attack?!”
In response to some of her followers questioning why her parents were in Israel, Ponder explained that they have been living there part-time for over 15 years. “They’ve been there part-time for over 15 years,” Ponder elaborated. “They built a basketball facility for youth, my dad coached the Palestinian National Team and the Israeli Football League, and my mom does archaeology.”
The situation is particularly troubling given the long-standing dedication her parents have shown to their community in Israel.
Their work, which spans coaching, building sports facilities for youth, and engaging in archaeological pursuits, has been a significant part of their lives. Now, the escalating threats and potential attacks in the region have put their safety at risk.
Ponder’s call for help is not an isolated plea; many families with loved ones in Israel are facing similar fears and uncertainties. The geopolitical tensions have heightened concerns, making it a dire situation for all those affected.
Despite the turmoil, Ponder remains hopeful that her parents, along with others in similar predicaments, will be able to return home safely.
The heartfelt support from her followers underscores the shared concern and solidarity during this challenging time.
As the situation develops, everyone is hoping for a swift and safe resolution that allows Ponder’s parents and others to continue their impactful work without the shadow of fear looming over them.
