Steve Smith is easing up on his criticism of Jerry Jeudy.
In the realm of professional football, it’s common for former NFL players to critique current NFL players on various networks. However, not all of these interactions escalate to the level of the verbal sparring that unfolded between former Panthers and Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. and Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy. Prior to the Denver Broncos’ 19–8 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on October 12, Smith had publicly expressed his disapproval of Jeudy’s actions, which ignited the feud.

The unusually heated dispute has gradually simmered down over the past two weeks, and on Friday, Steve Smith publicly extended an apology to Jerry Jeudy during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
Smith admitted, “It was the type of words that I used that obviously did not sit well with him,” Smith said, while at his former university, Utah. “And that’s more important than walking back my words. If you can talk about a man, you’ve got to be able to look that man in the eye and say something and give him an opportunity [to respond].”
Acknowledging that he had crossed a line with his prior comments, in which he labeled Jeudy as “mentally unable to handle constructive criticism” and “an average wide receiver,” Smith expressed remorse, saying, “I apologize for how I said it, what I said, and the negative impact it had.”
It takes a big person to admit their mistakes in what they’ve said.
