Many entertainment journalists have weighed in on the controversial 2016 video showing P. Diddy allegedly assaulting his former girlfriend, Cassie. The footage has sparked widespread criticism and discussion.
Adding to the commentary, outspoken sports analyst Stephen A. Smith has shared his views on the impact of the video on Diddy’s career. Speaking on his show, “The Stephen A. Smith Show” on ESPN’s First Take, he did not mince words regarding the incident.
“I want to declare, right here on these digital airwaves of YouTube, that the career of Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs as we know it, is over,” Stephen A. stated emphatically on his social media program. “It’s over, and it’s over in one of the worst possible ways you can imagine.”
During his program, which first discussed the footage after it was aired by CNN on Friday morning, Smith provided a vivid description of the video without showing it to his audience.

“I have the video right in front of me. We can’t show it to you, but I’m watching it with the sound off. She’s walking down the hallway in a hoodie, clearly trying to sneak out of the hotel room. Then, we see him sprinting down the hallway in just a towel,” he described. “He approaches her, snatches her by the neck, and yanks her to the ground. She lies there, motionless. I’m looking at this video while I’m talking to you. He snatches her by the neck. Unless this is some look-alike, some clone, or someone from ‘Mission Impossible’ like Tom Cruise wearing someone else’s face, this is him.”
Smith also drew parallels between this incident and the case of former NFL running back Ray Rice, whose career ended after security camera footage showed him assaulting his fiancée in 2013. Smith’s implication was clear: he believes that, similar to Rice, this incident will mark the end of Diddy’s public career.
