Stephen A. Smith steps out of the sports arena with a message, and this time it’s not about the Buffalo Bills or Josh Allen.
During a discussion on First Take this morning, Smith diverted the conversation to address men interested in his ESPN colleague, Kimberley Martin.
“To the fellas out there: you can’t have her,” declared Smith. “You’re bums. You know you’re dogs. Stop texting me about trying to get with Kimberley Martin. It ain’t happening.”
While Martin was taken aback by the unexpected interjection, fellow panelist Marcus Spears applauded Smith for his straightforward words.
“I’m so glad you said that because people be asking me,” Spears chimed in. “I ain’t making no love connection.”
Typically reserving discussions about love and intimacy for his podcast, Stephen A. chose this moment to express a clear message.

Martin, an ESPN colleague since 2020, has also covered the NFL for publications like The Washington Post, The Buffalo News, and Newsday. While she had been married to fellow journalist Jeff Roberts for several years, recent on-air appearances on ESPN have left uncertainty about the status of their relationship, as Martin was not wearing a wedding ring.
Known for his propensity to say out-of-bounds things, Stephen A. Smith continues to make headlines both on and off the sports stage.
