During his debut appearance on ESPN’s First Take on Monday, Shannon Sharpe had a little slip-up when he accidentally referred to Stephen A. Smith as “Skip.” In response, Smith took a light-hearted approach to ensure that Sharpe wouldn’t encounter the same issue again.
At the beginning of Tuesday’s First Take episode, Smith donned a nametag that read “Stephen A.”
“I know there was a hiccup yesterday, Shannon. You called me something other than Stephen A. But I’ve got a solution to the problem,” Smith quipped, proceeding to attach the nametag to his suit. “There we go. What’s up? My name is Stephen A., baby.”
Sharpe burst into laughter, and the show continued as usual.
Fans of the show appreciated the playful moment:
“I sometimes slip and call people my son’s name whenever I feel they’re not understanding my point of view,” one user playfully remarked.
“When it’s February and you’re still writing the previous year in the date,” another humorously added.
“Going down, homie! This is hilarious!!” a third enthusiastic fan chimed in.
So far, it seems that the two hosts are building good chemistry on First Take, which airs on ESPN.
