Stephen A. Smith is always intentional with what he does.
Smith recently failed to mention Max Kellerman’s name while discussing the recent ESPN layoffs.
Last week, ESPN laid off 20 on-air personalities as part of cost-cutting measures, which included Kellerman, who had been removed as co-host from First Take by Stephen A. himself two years ago.
Smith mentioned several employees he would miss after the layoffs on Monday, such as Jalen Rose, Jeff Van Gundy, Keyshawn Johnson, and Ashley Brewer, but viewers noticed the omission of Kellerman’s name.
No way he didn’t mention Max Kellerman ? https://t.co/PKgjr5pJ8k

During an appearance on the Dan Le Batard show earlier this year, Smith explained his decision to remove Kellerman from First Take and said that he believed a debate show required certain elements that he felt Kellerman did not bring to the table when sitting opposite him.
Smith emphasized that Kellerman and he did not work well together, and it was not a show he wanted to be a part of.
Following his exit from First Take, Kellerman had been hosting various shows on ESPN radio before being laid off last week.
