The basketball world is abuzz with Michael Jordan’s recent input on the debate surrounding the greatest point guard in NBA history.
The discussion started when Stephen Curry claimed the title for himself during a podcast appearance with Gilbert Arenas. Stephen A. Smith of ESPN sided with Curry, narrowly choosing him over Magic Johnson.
However, during a segment of First Take, Smith revealed that Jordan had texted him with his own opinion on the matter.
According to Smith, Jordan believes that while Curry is an exceptional player, Magic Johnson is the undisputed best point guard of all time.
“Although greatest of anything is always a debate, I beg to differ on greatest point guard of all-time… Magic Johnson is easily the best point guard of all time. Steph Curry is very close, but not in front of Magic,” Jordan said, per Smith.

Jordan acknowledged Curry’s unparalleled shooting abilities but pointed out that Johnson revolutionized the game with his triple-double records and clinched five NBA championships, one more than Curry.
This input from Jordan, often considered the greatest basketball player of all time, adds substantial weight to the ongoing discussion.
0% chance MJ texted Stephen A. all of that at 5:45 AM https://t.co/eK1oneEE4H

this Magic vs Steph debate really becomes a convo on what positions have become. because while they’re both technically listed as a point guard, they did not have the same roles https://t.co/6BXW8mx9aS

It is evident that Jordan gave careful consideration to his message to Smith, making his opinion a significant development in the debate.
