The talking head is setting the record straight.
Stephen A. Smith, renowned for his sports commentary, found himself in an unexpected situation when he faced off against an elite athlete this week.
During Friday’s episode of First Take, Smith’s co-host Molly Qerim revealed that Smith would be arriving late to the show as he was at the hospital undergoing X-rays.
“This is what I was told by Stephen A., if he wants to change the story when he gets here, that’s fine,” she remarked.
“This is what I understand: Stephen A. Smith is one of the coaches in the celebrity all-star game tonight alongside our guy Shannon Sharpe. He started messing around with Micah Parsons – of all people – one of the guys on his team, obviously a Dallas Cowboy. Micah crossed him over and all I know is Stephen A. is at the hospital right now getting X-rays. So I’ll let him tell you the rest of the details when he gets here.”
Upon Smith’s eventual arrival on the show, he attempted to clarify the situation regarding his hospital visit.
“Ladies and gentlemen, Molly Qerim is a pathological liar,” Smith humorously retorted.
“They had the practice last night…I saw Micah Parsons, we started shooting around together. There was some sweat on the floor, and as soon as I pulled up to shoot, I went flying. I’m talking feet in the air, the whole thing.”

While Smith may not have been crossed over by Parsons as initially suggested, as Qerim humorously noted, he might want to stick with that story the next time he explains how he ended up in the hospital.
