Stephen A. Smith has been open about his struggles with COVID-19 and his journey toward improved physical and mental health in recent years. He revealed the extent to which his declining physical well-being jeopardized his broadcasting career.
Last winter, Smith was hospitalized with COVID-19, followed by surgery a few months later for double torn labrum. Subsequently, he embarked on a remarkable transformation, shedding 35 pounds in just 10 months and significantly improving his cholesterol, insulin levels, and body fat percentage.
Despite speculation surrounding weight loss drug Ozempic, Smith took to social media to clarify that he did not use the drug nor did he use steroids. Emphasizing his commitment to hard work, he stated, “No ozempic, no steroids, just hard work. I’ve spent the last year saving my life, and I’m still just getting started.”

Presently, Smith diligently trains with a personal trainer, engaging in six 30-45 minute cardio sessions per week alongside weightlifting sessions.

He admits that prior to his health scares, he prioritized work over his health, but these experiences served as a sobering reminder to prioritize self-care.
