Sonny Gray’s St. Louis Cardinals debut will have to wait.
The star pitcher for the Cardinals will start the season on the injured list with a hamstring straing, according to manager Oli Marmol.

Gray was set to start Opening Day for the Cardinals, but Miles Mikolas will now be the Opening Day starter due to Gray’s injury.

Gray is a three-time All-Star and has played for the Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds, and Minnesota Twins in his MLB career which began in 2013.
The 34-year-old signed a three-year, $75 million contract with the Cardinals this off-season, following a stellar season with the Twins in 2023.
For the Twins in 2023, Gray was named an All-Star and finished the season with an 8-8 record and a 2.79 ERA over 32 starts.
The Cardinals had a rare down season in 2023 as they finished 71-91 and are hoping that the signing of Gray will help them improve in 2024.
