A recent claim made by a FanDuel user, asserting that their winnings on the platform were seized to cover a child support debt, has sparked a debate on social media platforms.
Alleged screenshots circulating on platforms like X and Instagram purportedly show an email from FanDuel notifying the individual that the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services’ Child Support Enforcement division had flagged an outstanding child support debt.
Consequently, $1,578.84 was deducted from the user’s account to settle the debt, as per the email. Another screenshot displayed a total wager of $2.00, with the winnings listed as $1,580.84.
While the veracity of this specific claim remains uncertain, as its source has not been authenticated by those disseminating it, FanDuel’s policies do cover child support matters comprehensively.

The platform’s Responsible Play guide highlights provisions for third-party exclusion or play restriction requests, which can be initiated by individuals providing evidence, such as a court order mandating the payment of outstanding child support obligations.
This isn’t the first time the intersection of FanDuel and child support has been broached. In 2011, the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services announced its inaugural interception of casino winnings to address child support arrears, just two days after launching a pilot program. This followed a state law passed the previous year, subjecting winnings over $1,200 to potential child support debt collection.
Despite the discussion surrounding this incident, some remain skeptical, questioning the swiftness of the process based on their experiences. Nonetheless, the linkage between FanDuel and child support has been a recurring topic of discussion.
