Former South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler is one of the newest members of the New Orleans Saints after the Saints selected him in the fifth round of the NFL draft on Saturday.
However, reports are indicating that Rattler may have gone on Day 2 instead of Day 3 if not for an old reality TV series on Netflix called “QB1.”
“NFL GMs reportedly hated Spencer Rattler in the reality show “QB1” so much that it hurt his draft stock”
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Spencer Rattler’s potential in the NFL draft could have been negatively influenced by his participation in Netflix’s “QB1” reality series in 2019.
Despite being a high school athlete at the time, his portrayal on the show may have generated concerns among certain teams, impacting his draft prospects.

Apparently, one clip that rubbed NFL scouts the wrong way was one of him criticizing his teammates.
“Here’s a clip of @Netflix “QB1” on which former Phoenix Pinnacle QBs Spencer Rattler and JD Johnson competing together against the team defense and pushing each other as leaders of the team during and after the contest in practice in 2018.”
Honestly, this seems like Rapoport was duped by a report from a parody account on X because it’s hard to imagine that NFL scouts actually took this into consideration.
Rattler seems to be just fine with how the NFL draft turned out for him.
“At the end of the day it’s a blessing to get picked wherever,” Rattler said, via ESPN. “I knew we were waiting around a day or two but I had faith that I would be picked today. … I was very happy the Saints came and picked me, what a great feeling.”
Rattler will begin his NFL career backing up current Saints quarterback Derek Carr.
