Sophia Culpo recently disclosed that she employed a confidential informant within the Jets organization to uncover her ex-boyfriend, former New York receiver Braxton Berrios, cheating on her.
Berrios, who has since joined the Miami Dolphins, and Culpo parted ways in March due to a breach of trust, as she later explained.
During an appearance on her sister Aurora’s ‘Barely Filtered’ podcast, Culpo asserted that she had been monitoring Berrios even before their breakup.
‘Someone we know was doing some digging for me around the team and that was how I got confirmation that this wasn’t the first girl also,’ Culpo said.
‘[Berrios] was like, ‘Ladies don’t have to know about tonight,’ and this teammate was like, ‘I’m single, so, it’s fine.’ [Berrios] goes, ‘Oh, well I’m having fun tonight.”
In July, Berrios and influencer Alix Earle attended the ESPY awards together. They had previously been linked during the winter, with Culpo mentioning that her older sister, Olivia, had informed her during Super Bowl week that Berrios was being unfaithful.
Culpo is engaged to 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey.
“When I heard that [Berrios was cheating], I just remember my stomach dropping,” Sophia recalled.
“I wanted to throw up… so I called him and said, ‘Is there anything you want to tell me?’ I had never heard this tone in his voice, and he replied, ‘No.’
“We had a lengthy conversation, and one of the last things I’ll never forget him saying to me was, ‘I wouldn’t go forward with that story because that’s not how I remember it.'”
While there was speculation that Earle and Berrios were involved while the receiver was still with Culpo, Earle refuted these claims and denied being a ‘homewrecker.’
“When I read these comments, I was in tears discussing it with my friends, and they said, ‘Alix, this kind of stuff usually doesn’t bother you,'” she shared on ‘Call Her Daddy.’
“I grew up thinking that this was one of the worst things you could do to another person, so why would I do that? No, they weren’t together.”
Earle clarified in the interview that she and Berrios were not in an official relationship.
So far this season, the Miami wideout has made five catches for 70 yards in two games.
