The Las Vegas Aces have shown just how much they care for their rookie, Kate Martin.
During Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Sky, Aces guard Kate Martin slipped on the court and appeared to suffer a painful lower leg injury in the first quarter. In a touching and respectful gesture, her teammates and the Aces’ staff quickly rallied around her to provide privacy and support.
As Martin lay on the court, the Aces players formed a protective huddle around her to shield her from the cameras. Several players held a towel to cover Martin’s head, ensuring she had some privacy while dealing with her injury.

Martin was assisted to the locker room and later returned to the bench, though she did not play for the rest of the game. Despite her absence, the Aces fought hard but ultimately lost to the Sky, 93-85.
“I’m going to take care of my rookie, no matter what,” Aces star A’ja Wilson said during the postgame press conference. “It could be a knee scrape, it could be anything. We’re going to take care of her no matter what because she’s one of us. Cameras just don’t give us privacy, and I get it, that’s their job to get the shot, but I think for us, we’re just going to protect her at all costs.”
The gesture was widely praised by WNBA fans, who appreciated the Aces’ commitment to their teammate and their efforts to maintain her dignity during a vulnerable moment.
The team’s actions exemplified the strong bonds and solidarity within the Aces, highlighting their dedication to supporting each other both on and off the court.
