At halftime of Friday’s Final Four showdown against UConn, Iowa found themselves trailing 32-26. While Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes women’s basketball team didn’t have the strongest start, their season wasn’t over just yet.
However, it seems the Front Office Sports Twitter/X account prematurely declared the end of Clark’s college career. In a now-deleted tweet, they listed Clark’s impressive collegiate achievements, including two-time Naismith Award winner, two-time AP Player of the Year, and three-time Big Ten Player of the Year. Additionally, they highlighted her foundation launch and sponsorship deals with Nike, Gatorade, and State Farm, all under the caption, “After four years, Caitlin Clark’s college career has come to an end.”
Stewart Mandel of The Athletic captured a screenshot of the tweet, humorously pointing out the timing by quipping, “When you accidentally scheduled the scheduled tweet to run at halftime.”

However, as events unfolded, it became evident that the game was far from decided. Iowa surged ahead in the third quarter, and by the time the final quarter began, the score was tied at 51, showcasing the resilience and fight of the Hawkeyes.
Perhaps that tweet will be more fitting for the next game if Iowa doesn’t manage to turn things around.
