Emil Forsberg, the captain of the Red Bulls, is reportedly undergoing a divorce from his wife of eight years, with his move to New York being cited as a contributing factor. Shanga Forsberg, in an Instagram post, alleged that Emil has severed ties with their family, which includes her and their two children residing in Sweden.
In a translated excerpt from Shanga’s post via the NY Post, she expressed disbelief at the situation, stating, “We will part ways. Words I thought I would never utter after two children and 19 years together and that still feel unreal.”
She further mentioned feeling blindsided by Emil’s apparent prioritization of his new life in New York, remarking on his perceived lack of communication and engagement with their family.

Despite the public accusations, Emil Forsberg has not publicly addressed the matter. He has continued to participate in international matches with the Swedish national team, most recently facing Portugal and Albania.
On the professional front, Emil has been active in his debut MLS season with the New York Red Bulls, appearing in four matches and contributing one goal and an assist. However, neither Emil nor the team has issued a statement regarding the reported divorce.
