After the success of Netflix’s Quarterback, the streaming giant has once again partnered with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions for a new series titled Receiver.
This eight-episode series will follow five NFL receivers throughout the 2023 season, using the same successful formula.
This time, however, Manning, who is widely regarded as one of the best quarterbacks of all time, is stepping back to let retired superstar receiver Randy Moss take the lead.
“They say there’s not a more difficult position in sports than NFL quarterback,” Manning begins in a dramatic voiceover as the clip starts. “But the truth is throwing a pass is only half the story.”
Manning continues, “With all due respect to offensive linemen, a quarterback’s best friend is this guy: the receiver.”
Moss then interjects, “Peyton, Peyton, Peyton — this show is about receivers, right? I love you and all, but why don’t you pass this season off to me?”
“It’s in good hands,” Moss adds with a sly smile. Moss, who played 14 seasons in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and San Francisco 49ers, is more than ready to guide viewers through the world of elite receivers.
Moss explains to viewers, “This year, we switched it up. Instead of giving quarterbacks even more love, we followed five of the league’s best pass catchers throughout the 2023 season.”

The five players featured in Receiver include George Kittle and Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson, Las Vegas Raiders’ Davante Adams, and Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions.
The show promises to go “all in with the top receivers in the league,” according to Moss, as these players “balance their daily grind with the pursuit of greatness.”
Quarterback, which followed Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, Minnesota Vikings’ Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota (formerly of the Atlanta Falcons), was released by Netflix in 2023 and received widespread acclaim. Mahomes, through his 2PM Productions company, serves as an executive producer on Receiver, alongside NFL Films and Manning’s Omaha Productions.
All eight episodes of Receiver are set to premiere on July 10th on Netflix, offering fans an in-depth look at the lives and careers of some of the NFL’s top receivers as they strive for greatness both on and off the field.
