Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has captured the spotlight not just for his unexpected MVP award in the Eastern Conference Finals but also for his endearing off-court activities during the break before the NBA Finals.
In an interview on “Good Morning America,” Brown shared an amusing detail about how he spent the ten-day hiatus following the Celtics’ victory and before Game 1 of the NBA Finals. While many players might spend such a break with family or engaging in pre-game rituals, Brown took a different route.
“A lot of our guys probably spend time with their family and stuff like that, but I don’t have a family. I’m single. So I’ve been binge-watching Harry Potter,” he revealed.

This light-hearted preparation seemed to serve him well, as Brown excelled in Game 1. The 22-year-old notched 22 points, secured six rebounds, blocked three shots, and made three steals, showing remarkable efficiency by shooting 7-of-12 from the field, including two three-pointers, and making 6-of-11 free throws.
The conversation took an even more engaging turn when the host asked Brown which “Harry Potter” character he identifies with the most. He chose Dumbledore and Hermione, explaining his affinity for Hermione’s proactive and disciplined approach.
“[Hermione] is also the one that just keeps everybody on track. She’s the one that gets stuff done. That’s me. Like, ‘We gotta get this done.’ I’m not waiting ‘til the last minute. You got an assignment? We gonna get it done first day. We not gonna wait ‘til the last minute.”
This disciplined approach clearly translates to the basketball court, where Brown’s determination and leadership were pivotal in the Celtics’ strong performance in Game 1 against the Dallas Mavericks.
His focus and teamwork are reflective of his goal to lead the Celtics to their first championship since 2008.
